A new year begins full of surprises and novelties for L'Ma Lodge, we will keep you informed throughout the year in court.
At the L'Ma Lodge we produce and consume our own organic olive oil. Excellent quality, it contributes to the taste of our cuisine.
Every year in mid-November, there was the olive picking in the palm of Skoura. L'Ma Lodge is no exception to this rule. The olive trees present in the garden allows us to harvest between 550 kg and 900 kg of olives by years. For this production is cyclical. Good years alternate with bad. There are three years we collected 1000 kg of olives that produced 200 liters of oil. Since last year we went into a bad cycle because the harvest is down to do only 550 kg this year. This will still allow to produce 110 to 120 liters of oil.
This collection activity is primarily performed by women in the palm. For it must be light and agile enough to climb up the trees to harvest the highest perch. For the lowest olives, simply type the branches with sticks to make them fall in sheets on the ground. Then it is in bags that are sent to the village press. Olives and olive oil palm plantation of Skoura are renowned for their quality.
It's in October that dates arrive at mature. This is the time of harvest. The traditional way by professionals, it requires climb to the top of the palm trees, barefoot and without security and whatever their height. An exercise to see impressive acrobatics.
Then, the dates can be stored for long periods away from light in a cool, dry place. In the morning at breakfast or with a mint tea, it is that dates from the garden are served.
This month of October is full of great events. We were very pleased to receive Mark and Tessa to The Lodge Ma.
